It has been 12 years since I started working as a support worker, a time I have mostly enjoyed, especially the people I have met and supported. I have participated in many training days and professional development activities so that I can keep up with current practices. After all, the quality and safety of the work I do is very important to me.
Recently, my work coordinator suggested I have a look at G8Way to help me get my head around the changes being brought about by the NDIS. I was a bit reluctant because I figured it wouldn’t have much to do with what I do, thinking my employer would look after all the NDIS requirements. G8Way broadened my thinking about how important the changes to the delivery of support services are for the Participants, the value of my role in the changes and how I can contribute to a better life for the people I support.
